An Anjali Update

Hiiiiii my beautiful readers!

Some of you have noticed that I've been slacking with my posts - thanks for pointing it out ;)
The truth is, I've been taking the past few weeks to catch up with myself.  While the Fall wasn't extremely busy, it was definitely a time for change, reflection and self-realizations.  I needed to take a break from the swatches, reviews and pictures to focus on returning to an optimal mental and physical state.  I have ONE MORE WORKING DAY until I can start enjoying a 12 day break!
In those 12 days I plan to sleep in, work out, blog, hang out with friends and family, and get caught up on all the musings of my fellow bloggers and social-media-ites ;)
I'm excited to get back on track and felt that I owed an explanation for my inactivity.  I hope you are all enjoying the holiday season so far - good luck with the last minute Christmas shopping...it's crazy out there!!!  (but let me know if you find any great deals...)

Thank you for understanding and being so patient with me!  And remember, you can always get some quick updates from my Twitter and DailyBooth accounts.

You'll hear from me soooooon!!!!

MAC TREND F10/W11: Viovel via Nadine Luke

The third of Nadine Luke's four makeup trends for Winter 2011 is the often-hard-to-replicate....

Voivel

Graphic, gothic, artistic.  Mystical colours are used in a technical way to create sharp and rigid looks.  It's deep, it's dark, it's sexy.  I immediately thought of Kat Von D:

Focus on:
- Thin, sleek, winged eye liner
- Heavy, clumped mascara
- Deeply contoured cheeks
- Dark or deep lips
- Thick, pointed eyebrows

So how can we translate this into everyday wear?  Well, in my opinion, we shouldn't.  This is a trend I would take inspiration from for a night out, but definitely not for a work or a daytime look.  At most, I'd combine any 2 of the individual elements listed above, but anything more than that would be slightly inappropriate for the office environment I work in.  BUT I do love the dark sex appeal of this look.  Or maybe it's just Kat Von D.  Either way, think I'm going to try it for my next night out ;)

Rock that BDAY Look!

Thank you all for your suggestions on what lip colour I should wear on my bday :)
I decided to go with Lancome's Fast Kisses
It was a nice deep pink to compliment the dress. Here are some pics of my look for the night:

I had an amazing birthday weekend :)  Thank you all for your kind wishes and your input on my lipstick dilemma!!!!

Quick! I need your opinion...NOW!!!

Hiiiiii Everyone!  If you are online NOW (December 4th, 5:30pm-7:30pm EST) I need your opinion!!!
Today is my birthday and I'm going out to celebrate :)
My dress is a light-ish royal blue with a black design:

I plan to do a smokey eye but need help choosing a lipstick.  What do you think?

In order from L to R:

Drama Queen by Emani Minerals
Schiap by NARS
Toxic Tale by MAC
Fast Kisses by Lancome

Because my dress is on the lighter side of royal blue, I'm thinking I need a deeper pink to offset it...I'm leaning toward Fast Kisses but am curious as to what you'd do?

Drop me a line!  I'll post pictures of my final look after tonight :)
