Soooo, when I find a pair of shoes that actually fit, you better believe I jump on them. I recently ordered a pair of wedge sandals from Aldo. They were on sale for $24.95CAD and would be great for the summer. Here they are:
Cute right? And they FIT! Here's the problem. The are FIVE freakin' inches tall!!!! Sooooo, basically if I were to wear them, I'd be 6'3".
Here's my question to you...how tall is too tall?
I typically wear 3 inch heels and feel relatively comfortable in them. They are easy to walk in and while I am taller than most women, I don't feel like I stand out too much. But I really think the extra couple of inches will just put me over the top. I guess I have never been comfortable with my height (but I LOVE high heels, go figure), so when I push over the 6'1" mark, I start to get very insecure.
Seriously, is 6'3" too tall for a woman? I mean, if I can avoid being such a giant, should I? I know what you're going to say, "do what feels comfortable, at the end of the day it's about how I feel about myself"...BUT I'd still like to know your HONEST thoughts. So indulge me if you will.
If you saw a 6'3" giant Anjali walking toward you, what would you think? I think "too tall".
Agree or disagree?

Oh hi!
It's me, Leah (@leahblonde) a fellow 5-10"-er who loves to wear high heels (though i am lucky with my size 9 feet). I have only one pair of outrageously awesome shoes that are 5" an I haven't yet been brave enough to wear them (so that's probably not much help).
I always notice fashionable and tall women in public and think - would I want to look like that and get the same attention? 9 times out of 10, the answer is yet. I think if you can put together a gorgeous outfit with 5" heels (and can walk in them) GO FOR IT. Andmake sure you have tall friends with you that night.
Agree
I disagree! I envy tall women and I wish I were taller. My little 5'2 self wants to grow. lol
Although as you stated above, it is truly all up to you, and how comfortable you feel with them on.
Thanks for the comments ladies!
@Leah - oooooh you're 5'10" too? I love meeting other tall women :) Where do you buy your pants??? LOL
You're right about having tall friends around...nothing more uncomfortable than being able to see the top of your friends' heads when you're out for the night! If you ever wear your 5" heels you HAVE to drop me a line!
@anon - I appreciate your honesty - thank you!
@StealMyHeartLove - thanks for the encouragement :) I've always wanted to be shorter...5'5" is my IDEAL height LOL!!!
I have the same problem with shoes, I am also size 11 - I actually found a lady who runs a shoe store in her appartment - www.divna.ca - I have only ever been able to find quality heels from her. Other than that I get my flats from payless in the states.
As for being too tall - I am around 5"11 and a half with no heels, so with heels, I am borderline 6"2 ish - I only wear 2 inch heels as preference. At this point I am soo used to being tall that it doesn't bother me. I am the tallest person in the room usually. But I love it (after a long battle).
You will feel like a giant in your shoes especially if you are used to being a certain height - you will be taller than everyone so perhaps I wouldn't wear those on a first date hehe.
More power to you though Anjali!!
Dear Anjali,

I'm 5'10" and I like to wear heels as well. Though no matter how high the heel is, my husband is still taller than me, which is perfect. However, I do feel amazonian sometimes, towering over people. A friend of mine is 6' and she wears five-inch heels, and to be honest, it's intimidating and a little bit on the "too tall" side.
I think tall women are very sexy. It's the man's job to be tall, and if he is short to at least try and act tall (Tom Cruise) so keep up the heels. Hot heels accentuate your legs and make you look ravishing.
I'm 5'6" and I've always felt average/short. I always wanted to be about 5'9" or 5'10", though not so much now that I married a man the same height as me lol. To be completely cliche it really is all about how you feel in them, and perhaps being those couple inches taller would just take some getting used to. If there was a limit (which I don't believe there is) I'd put it at maybe 6'4" or 6'5".
I'm 5'11 and have only started NOW to wear heels, I am definitely a flats kind of girl. The biggest heel I feel comfortable in is about 3 inches and even then I feel like I'm standing above the crowd.
For some reason though, when I see other tall girls rockin heels they don't look awkward or stand out, but it's the complete opposite when I wear them!
I'm barely 5'2" so I can't really comment on anything personal but I would say to own your height and of course if you're comfortable with it then go for it!
I can understand how it can be intimidating though. If you wore those standing next to me even if I were in the tallest heels I could walk in we'd probably have to sit down to have a real conversation :P
It's not about what size heel you're wearing, but HOW you're wearing it. If you're amazonian-giantess tall but ROCKING it, then there isn't a problem, is there?
It's when the tall girls start folding into themselves because they feel conspicuous that the world starts to consider her "too tall."
So my verdit is: wear the AWESOME heels and be TALL TALL TALL!
My sister is 6th with size 12 shoes, and she hates wearing anything more than a kitten heel because she is self conscious. She has such a hard time finding shoes, and is always disappointed when stores that cater to tall women have so many shoes that are high heels. And the flats they do have are not dressy enough for when she wants to dress up.
Ultimately, it comes down to confidence. There is no such thing as too tall as far as I'm concerned, and if you want to wear 5inch heels, rock them and remember how gorgeous you are!
At 5"9, I tend to tower over most of my friends when out and about. I wear a size 1l shoe as well, but I also have wide, flat feet so I can't wear heels if my life depended on it; they're murder on my feet! A platform or wedge is more doable, but even then, I can't go to high. =( If I could wear and walk in them comfortably, I'd totally wear heels more often! I do feel a little self-conscious sometimes (mostly at Indian functions), but there are also times when my height gives me more confidence too. Sometimes it's not such a bad thing being the odd, tall duck out!
I'm 5'10 and rock 4, 5, 6 inch heels all the time :) I love it!
you better WORK!
my sister is 5'11 and echoes your complaint about the availability of shoes in her size. She does a lot of ordering online and complaining (to me) via phone.
I feel like you rock the heels and should keep it up. You are fierce and that's going to show through no matter what kind of shoe you wear.
6'3" is amazing!!! Please don't ever think that it's too tall, once I saw a lady who was walking with super high heels and she was already around 6 feet. People seemed to BOW to her presence haha. It can only work to your advantage trust me. :)
ps please check out my makeup blog too when you have a moment!

Great meeting you today! I am 5'10" and have trouble wearing anything more than a 3" heel. I know I shouldn't care but when I am a head taller than all my friends, I feel self-conscious. I guess I should get over it and embrace my height!
Thanks for all your comments! A few days ago I tried responding to each one individually but Blogger deleted it all before I could post my comment :(
I appreaciate the support and encouragement...I think I'll keep the sandals and try them out on a brave day. I'll be sure to let you know how it goes!!!
Thanks for reading and commenting, I truly appreciate it!
