FOTD: Vasanti's France lipstick yet again

If you read this blog or have ever had a conversation with me about pink lipstick, you'll know that I'm a big advocate of Vasanti's France Ultra Luxe Lipstick.  I just thought I'd remind you of how awesome it is:

If you're having a particularly boring makeup day (like I was today) all you need is a little France to brighten up your look.  If you don't have it, you should buy it.  It's worth the $15CAD.

Ya, that's me on a bad hair day.  Don't judge, I know you want to.  You can kind of see the blush I am wearing in this next photo, it's Swiss Alps, also from Vasanti ($15CAD):

And let's finish it off with an outfit:

Nothing special, more on the casual side of business-casual.  I bought the gray and blue striped sweater from a Gap outlet in the US years ago and this is probably the 2nd time I'm wearing it - sometimes it's nice to shop your own wardrobe :)  I find that I'm wearing this costume-pearl necklace a lot more these days.  I forgot what a great accessory it is.

Anyway, that's all for today folks...

Thanks for visiting!

FOTD: MAC (Marcel Wanders) Digna Lipstick

A few months ago I was sent the Digna lipstick from the MAC Marcel Wanders collection.  Sooo, I'm a little late on it, but I finally got a chance to take some good pics.  Given that it looks like a really deep purple on the surface, I was hesitant to try it out... but now I'm kicking myself for not trying it earlier - it's such a beautiful colour!!

I was expecting it to be a very dark and gothic shade but I was pleasantly surprised to find it was more red than it appeared in the tube, which made it easy for me to wear during the day.  Because I wore it to work I decided that dramatic lips were a bold enough statement, so I left the eyes and cheeks fairly neutral:

So here's yet another example of how you rock bold lips on the daily :)
AND here's the BONUS: it was a great way to dress up an otherwise boring and plain outfit...

Have you tried Digna?  What do you think of a shade like this for a daytime look?  Would YOU rock it?

FOTD: MAC Mystic Cool & Revlon Colourburst (Lilac)

I've been in a bit of a makeup rut in that I haven't been very creative with my daily looks lately (hence the lack of FOTD posts - sorry!!!).  In an effort to actually use my  makeup AND be a better beauty blogger I decided to shop my collection and pull out some shades I haven't rocked in a while.  Here's the look I created yesterday:

- Face concealer: Vasanti Liquid Cover Up in V4
- Eye primer:  MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre
- Face powder:  Vasanti Facebase in V4
- Eye Shadow:  Mix of shades from MAC's Mystic Cool palette (released in 2009)
- Eye Liner:  Annabelle Smudgeliner in Oh My Goth
- Mascara:  DiorShow in Black
- Blush:  MAC blush in Feeling
- Lips:  Revlon Colorburst in Lilac

I bought the MAC Mystic Cool palette at the last warehouse sale I went to.  I know it's been around for just over a year, but sometimes it's nice to wait and pay half the price at the sale :)  I blended the bottom middle rose shade with the two blues (very light on blue and only on the outer corners and crease) to put together a work-appropriate eye:

The lipstick was also something I bought a little while ago, but never really pulled out until yesterday.  I remember buying it because it was released around the same time as Burberry's cosmetics line and I thought the similarities in the packaging were amusing (I'll explain in another post).  I liked that the shade and texture were true to what I thought they would be - opaque, pigmented, and silky smooth.  I had heard great things about the Colorburst line and am glad they are all true!

Have you tried any Revlon Colorburst shades?

I often get asked for ideas on colour combos of eyeshadows and lipsticks...I hope this look will give you some inspiration!

To finish it off, here's the outfit I paired it with - it's been a while since I've worn a bright colour (I'm also going through a clothing rut) so I thought the pink top would be great in combination with the makeup for a business-casual look:

 Pink T-Shirt from Jacob
Purple & Black striped cardigan from H&M
 Pearl necklace from Jacob

I forgot how fun it is to wear bright colours and write FOTD posts!  I've been going through a few weeks of boring-a$$ style.  Time to step it up again :)  I already have pictures from today for another FOTD post so stay tuned for that.

So...tell me about you:

Are you finding yourself in a makeup rut?  What are you doing to get out of it? OR Have you found any HOT and FUN shades that I should try?

Let's hear it ;)
